The PADI Scuba Diver course is a part of the PADI Open Water Diver course . (represents approx 2/3 of the OW price).
If you are short on time, but really want to become a diver, the PADI Scuba Diver Rating may be right for you - especially if you'd rather dive with a dive guide. This course is an intermediate step towards obtaining the Open Water Diver certification, if that is your ultimate goal.
NB: Ideal for junior divers between 10 and 15 years old, in order to limit the depth: they will be supervised anyway by their age: which will not prevent them from acquiring a solid experience and ease to finish the Open Water quickly and continue to the Adventure diver / advanced course and specialties
PADI Scuba Divers are qualified for:

Dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters / 40 feet.

Refill air cylinders, rent or buy scuba equipment, and participate in supervised diving activities.

Continue diving training by completing the PADI Open Water Diver certification and taking certain specialty courses.

The PADI Scuba Diver course consists of three main phases:

Knowledge development ( online , independent study or in the classroom) to understand the basics of scuba diving - only the first three of the five sections of the Open Water Diver course.

Confined water dives to learn basic diving techniques - only the first three of the five dives of the Open Water Diver course.

Open Water Dives to use your scuba skills and explore - just two of the four dives on the Open Water Diver course.

DESCRIPTION
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you will learn everything you need to know to explore the underwater world in a scuba. For most people, this is a rewarding challenge. The Diver in a natural environment course (PADI Open Water Diver) consists of three parts:
1- Knowledge development, (5 chapters)
2- Dives in a confined water pool or similar conditions (5 sequences)
3- Dives in a natural environment (Open Water). (4 dives: 2 up to 12m max then 2 up to 18m max)

Knowledge development covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know to dive safely and in the right conditions. During Confined Water Dives, you will learn and practice scuba diving techniques in a swimming pool or in similar conditions. You will enjoy one or more mini-dives that will take you through the same stages as during your dives in a natural environment.
To conclude your training, you will practice and demonstrate what you have learned during four Open Water Dives at a local dive site. Obtaining a PADI Open Water Diver certification certifies that you have completed the course requirements. Dive Centers and Resorts will ask you for proof of certification before you rent scuba gear, refill scuba tanks, or book dive trips.
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, you will be trained to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters and will be qualified to dive in conditions as good, if not better, than those you were trained to. This is just the start of a life of scuba diving adventures.

EQUIPMENT
During the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear , including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, BC, and scuba tank. The gear you wear varies, depending on whether you are diving in the tropics, temperate or cold water. (combination in particular)
Go through your PADI Instructor for the equipment you will be using and get advice on everything you will need for this course.
